The story of Raanupirtti begins over 200 years ago, when this beautiful log cabin was originally built and stood as a symbol of tradition and family life. In the 1960s, Raanupirtti was relocated to its current site in Oikarainen, bringing with it a legacy of Lapland’s craftsmanship, artistry, and culture.
It became the home of Elsa Montell-Saanio and Matti Saanio, two artists whose work and vision has shaped the cultural identity of Lapland.
