Finnish Traditional Sauna Experience with the possibility to see the Northern Lights.

Discover the perfect combination of Finnish tradition and the magic of the Arctic night with our Private Northern Lights Sauna Experience. Located on the banks of the Kemijoki River, this 200-year-old wood-heated sauna offers a cozy and authentic way to relax, with the added chance to witness the northern lights dancing across the sky.

Your evening begins at Raanupirtti, where a lantern-lit path leads you to the sauna by the river. As a final touch, you have the opportunity to add the final logs to the sauna stove before stepping in to enjoy the welcoming warmth of the steam.. The Finnish sauna routine is simple: spend 10–15 minutes in the heat, then step outside to cool off in the crisp winter air. For those feeling adventurous, try “snow swimming” by rolling in the snow — it’s a fun and refreshing way to recharge, boosting your circulation and lifting your spirits.

The highlight of the experience comes when you step outside between and after the sauna sessions, feeling refreshed, to witness the Arctic sky at its best. There’s no better way to see the northern lights than fresh from the sauna, with the crisp air and the peacefulness of the riverside surrounding you. If the conditions are right, the sky will light up with the dancing colors of the northern lights, creating a magical moment you’ll never forget.

After the sauna, you’ll return to Raanupirtti, where a cozy fireplace awaits. You can relax in the warmth while keeping an eye on the sky for the northern lights. Enjoy a light Finnish snack and a drink (water, juice, coffee, tea and glögi are included).

For an extra fee, you can upgrade your experience with a traditional Finnish dinner, rounding off your evening with the flavors of Lapland.

Whether you’re familiar with saunas or trying one for the first time, this experience will leave you feeling refreshed, connected, and closer to Finnish traditions. Please note that northern lights are a natural phenomenon and we cannot guarantee that you will see them during this tour.
